    here you go buddy

Have put up pics comparing January 3rd, 2010 (when I started meds) with February 26th (today) - only put up hands and arm to indicate to you that the medicine is having an effect.

My spread is on face, neck, ears, nose, chest, underarms, hands, arms, feet, thighs, abdomen... very small spots or large spots - and hopefully the change in the spots on hands and arms will give you a comfort that the trend is positive - long term can I say I am cured? Too early - my doctor's view is he is not curing me but his attempt at this moment is to stop the spread - and in the process some repigmentation will happen on its own... hopefully this gives you comfort and confidence..

    cheers

    Re: Repigmentation process

Skin pigment disorders due to the abnormality of melanin production such as vitiligo, cause irregular pale patches of skin. Therapeutic response of treatment results in repigmentation of the skin. However the repigmentation process is very slow and is only observable after a few months of treatment.

    Re: Repigmentation process

Its good to hear that you are  improving, i am happy for you but also for myself that their actually is a kind of cure, but it slow.

Ive found out that many people only try it out for a week and then stop using it, with a thought of it wont help, but as i mentioned above it only helps on long term.

    Thanks for sharing Pete

    Re: Repigmentation process

    agreed Mate.

It has been 3 months since I started my medications (corticosteroids, immuno modulators and PPI) and I have another 4 years to go.... And no matter what the side effects I aint stopping the medication.

I am seeing very very positive results - significant repigmentation all over body... so I feel happy and am so far so good...

1 thing you will observe with repigmentation -

    1. some spots have lots of brown freckles that slowly grow in size
    2. some spots move in from the edges - so if any one is not monitoring the progress closely they will feel there is no progress when in fact over the period of time that spot is slowly growing smaller in size from the edges. If you watch closely you will see a brown line different in color than the rest of the skin - that is the sign you are repigmenting..

    cheers

    Re: Repigmentation process

Hello everyone, I've just found this forum and so far I find it very helpfull.... I want to share my experience with you and the result that I've been getting.... I've had Vitiligo for 5 years now.... I had it at some hidden parts of my body and the spots are not big.... The biggest problem I had was my face.... I had the spots on my forehead, around eyes, around lips and chin... About 2 years ago I was in Cuba and I got lucky to get the "Melahenina" lotion..... After about 3 month of using it all spots disappeared from my face... Gone...... Other parts started re-gaining the color.....  It's not gone completely, but it is working.... I am running out of the lotion now, so have to look into other products.... Hope it will help....

    Re: Repigmentation process

Glad to hear you have had such success with the Cuban treatment.  It's fascinating to read all the different posts and to realise that what doesn't work at all for some people does work for others.  Makes you wonder if vitiligo actually has numerous different causes and therefore a variety of possible effective treatments.

The good news for everyone is that many of us are living proof that this depressing condition is in fact reversible.  After nearly 50 years of living with vitiligo and roughly 80% of my body affected by it, I had given up hope that a cure would be found in my lifetime.  I had also assumed (wrongly) that my lost pigment had been totally destroyed after so many years.  But it turns out it was just "switched off"!

In my case, it seems that the cause of my vitiligo is the lack of certain nutrients.  (I've always eaten quite healthily, but I suspect my absorption is poor.)  I started supplementing with a natural nutrition product designed to help "normal" people tan more effectively and within weeks I started to develop freckles on all the white patches that were exposed to sunlight.  This continued throughout last summer and when summer ended I started UVB to take the place of the sun.  My repigmentation has gathered pace ever since and I am now smothered in freckles in every white patch on my body and some of the patches have gone altogether.

I'm confident that when my UVB treatment ends, my colour will remain because my body is now getting the nutrition it needs to keep producing pigment.

I'm not sure how to put photos on here, but you can see them (and read my whole story so far) at www.vitiligoprotocol.co.uk

Good luck to everyone in finding what will work for them - there will be something I'm sure :)

    Re: Repigmentation process

    Agreed with your approach.

Many times Vitiligo automatically disappears without the patient adopting any line of treatment. Sunlight exposure is great and I have been doing this regularly for 7 months now without any side effects of sun burns etc. Instead exposure to sun light makes me feel more active.

I wish you all the best in your cure.
