My Mom, does not care about me or my vitiligo, and i need help.
hello,
my name is Hike, i am 13 years old, i have vitiligo, but im miserable,
usually when you have something like this, you turn to your parents,.... but i can't.
whenever i try to talk to my mom about it or ask for help, she usually tells me to shut up, or be quiet,
she is constantly respectful and nice to my older brother, who does not have vitiligo, and it makes me wonder, if the only reason she is very respectful to him is because, he does not have vitiligo, and thinks he will have a sucessful life becasue he doesnt have it,
i constantly go through misery at school, thank god i dont have vitiligo on my face, but i have it everywhere else, through every second at school, i am stressed, scared, and i pray no one brings it up, because sometimes i just feel like quitting, stopping, because i can not take it anymore.
my dad, is hardly ever home ( i only see him for about 1 hour a day ) and hes usually the same way, he tells me to get over it.
i feel very, very lonely, someone please tell me what i can do, makeup is not an option, or cosmetics, because my parents dont have money, so please please help.
Thank You,

Hey Kid
Y r u so depressed? It could be just a feeling you have? Why dont you ask your parents to take you to a local specialist - this is curable
This is not a disease and it is not a problem if you have it - live your life as normally as you can.
Which part of the globe are you in?

Hey Hike,
Im a 21 year old guy in college with vitiligo
you remind me of myself when I was your age, I too have an older brother who was "taken care of" more then I was. I always thought it was because of the vitiligo too.
my dad also is hardly ever at home, and I also feel very lonely at times
the only thing I can tell you is that what you are going through at your age is really tough. I felt the same way all through junior high and highschool.
unfortunately, the best thing you can do is study hard, get a job, and play video games
thatll take your mind off of it, but kid I wont lie to you
you have one heck of a tough life ahead of you, sorry

Hike,
This stubborn disease could be treated. If your parents do not have money and you are committed to uproot this disease, I can suggest you one very successful treatment. "Yoga"
If you have question, send me reply.
Regards,

why the hell are you saying yoga is a successful treatment
if the kid does yoga and it doesnt work (which it wont), then he will be even more sad and hopeless
watch your damn tongue

Re: My Mom, does not care about me or my vitiligo, and i need help.
Yoga is not a cure for vitiligo.. I do yoga for 90 minutes a day... Yoga is a lifestyle thing and helps with healthiness of body... AND a BIG AND - this needs an expert supervision.. cant imagine a kid being able to handle so much stress...
Hey kid! I really wish we could help you..but here is my simple advise - cure exists for you - discuss it with your parents first and then discuss with your local doctor... dont listen to too many suggestions on "miracle cures" coz their aint any - no homeopaths, no ayurvedics....
And for yoga, diet control blah blah... son my suggestion - forget all nonsense and focus on ur studies.. make a career for urself.. and stop even thinking about anything negative - you need a healthy thinking for your future... there are many people who have serious learning and other problems in life but have risen to become great leaders.... and am sure you will have that 1 special thing in you that will make you special someday... so believe in urself and forget all nonsense cures... just live ur life happily and if possible discuss ur cure with a local specialist...

Re: My Mom, does not care about me or my vitiligo, and i need help.
Hey Guys, I am on this forum because I also have vitiligo since 2001. I tried so many medications, but no result. It may be because I was not consistent and stopped treatment in the year 2003 as I got busy with my studies. Vitiligo keeps spreading at a very slow pace (as of today ~4-5% of my body). Last year, September 2009, I started medication again and it is helping me. It stopped spreading further and also I can see boundaries around the white patches. Later at the end of the year I started doing Yoga, (as I mentioned that it helps). Let me correct myself. Breathing Yoga-inhaling and exhaling air or oxygen in different ways. You guys will not believe, small white patches started getting color of my skin and also tiny colored dots in the big paches. This is also great for keeping my body active and free of stress all the time.
Few tips: Always keep positive attitude. Never talk negative. Do not eat salty food and drink milk at the same time. Wait for atleast 30 - 45 minutes. Drink more water than you normally drinks. Very little consumption of soda or no soda.
Any questions or concerns.

Re: My Mom, does not care about me or my vitiligo, and i need help.
very happy that you are getting repigmented. Trust me hearing that you are seeing positive results is sweet music to ears of anyone who accesses this forum.
I also do yoga - especially Kapalbhatti and I do yoga for 90 minutes a day.
My point is very simple -
Hike is a 13 year old kid and too young to adopt the harsh regime of yoga which needs discipline and patience plus an expert coach and if he does not see the results as you are able to see - he will be disappointed only adding to his existing stress.
And to me yoga is not a cure for Vitiligo - it is a process to detoxify yourself and be healthy internally - which even I am experiencing as you are experiencing. My doctor's view is that many times this disease will go on its own (even without treatment).
My wishes to you to control and cure yourself.
Cheers,
