my story, any advice or help people especially with treatment people can offer
i've had vitiligo for about a year. I'm 20 yrs old, male and last year i woke up and discovered something "downstairs" that freaked me out! i had never had sex or anything so i knew it wasn't an std, i went to the doctor and they told me i had vitiligo. The dermatologist says that there's not much i can do and that, and i quote "i'm lucky because people can't see it" but he was incredibly insensitive to say that to me! I am so afraid to show anyone my body and anytime something sexually happens with someone i have to be like "hold on stop, i have to tell you something" and then they get afraid and don't believe me or even in some cases i've been broken up over it because they don't feel "sexually comfortable" This is humiliating, and for a 20 yr old male it's really destroyed any sex life! even dating is hard because i know that i ALWAYS have to tell them about this because it's there! does anyone have any treatments or doctors in NYC that they know of that are good? i know about the herbal topics and stuff and was just wondering if anyone had some success or advice. It's really terrifiying everytime i go to the doctor because i always have to take all my clothes off and feel strange!

Re: my story, any advice or help people especially with treatment people can offer
Man, if you think thats bad. I am 20, love to party, love people, and got diagnosed with vitiligo at 18 years old, my first year in college. I didnt only have it there, I got i all over my face, and it was spreading rapidly, my eyes also. But, I am a recoverer. I have gained ALLL the pigment back in my face, turly remarkable. Doctors told me there was basically nothing I could do. UVB or those treatments would not have worked for me at all because in my case it spread. I urge you to email her, but only if you cant make the visit.
Dr. Li at merryclinic.com has an incredible treatment that pretty much saved my life. Her pills, mixed with the oil therapy (amazing) saved me from basically going insane or worse. I hope this helps. If you can spread the word about her, please do, she saved my life.
You dont have to even go to visit her if you dont want to. She is in San Fransisco. She has an online consultation at merryclinic.com and you can send her a photo if you want. I recommend seeing her though. Shes a special person. I owe her my life.

Hi
Could more people come out and give their experiences with Dr Li's treatment. I went to the website, it talks about capsules which boost the immunity and help produce melanocytes and some other vitamins and supplements.
"Anonymous" if you try it then please let us know what the results were.
Good luck.

Re: my story, any advice or help people especially with treatment people can offer
Hi,
****Posting is very long includes our personal story, medicine and blah blah . consider reading only if you have time *****
I am new this forum. We are from India living in USA. My
husbad has a stressful job ,meddling mother, and last but not the
least green card problems hence vitiligo i guess. I initially visited this forum in April 2007 when my husband was first diagnosised with vitiligo. I was looking for the right medicine, whats best than finding from others experiences. It has been 6 months now.I have seen some improvement with my husband white spots. He had one thumbsize white spot on fore head its 25% gone. One not so white 1.25 cm spot on cheek 90% gone and some 3 cm spot right below it ,40% gone.around groin aread and armpit no improvement and very little improvement on the finger. My husband is too shy to post his pictures and i would really like to post them once they are completely gone. I am an optimistic person.
I searched online a lot and saw so many products and was confused as of what is real or scam.I found one entry in oralhealth.com. For some reason i totally trusted her posting. I am very skeptical about online postings because you never know if its a real posting or its some kind of an advertisement(scam).
Based on one posting we contacted the doctor and sent the pictures. on the phone she gauranteed 100% results for his case (probabbly depends on how long you have it or i dont know..some one posted that it cured her sisters vitiligo and that she had for so many years). The doctor adviced us to take the medicine properly on time with the rite diet. My husband is lazy and stubborn and is not taking his medications as directed (regular intervals and right dosages). May be it would have helped more if he followed the prescribed diet and took medications on time. He had general check up done and was diagnossised with fatty lever so he stopped the medicine for almost a month but not completely though. He used to skip now and then . But i am happy with the reults so far. We havent had liver biopsy done yet. Sometimes autoimmune problem with the liver can cause vitiligo. Guys get a general check up done too.
The doctor asked him not to eat the following. Meat, eggs, choclates, tartaric acid, lemon, basically all sour stuff . Absolutely no processed food. No bread and dairy products hahahaha. But we have been eating bread and dairy products but not as much as we used to before. In USA you can not completely avoid processed food either so we eat it now and then. Before that we used to eat all the junk available in market like twinkies etc. we have been eating colored vegetables too as they help in repigmentation but not that relegiously.
Medicines: Well the doctor is in India..thats a small drwaback. We had to have them posted to USA. It was not easy. She prescribed Ayurveda (5000 year old medicine) and the homeopathy. She asked my husband to drink i cap full of ayurvedic extract and eat some kind of herb early in the morning and at night. He says it tastes aweful. After that homeopathy medicines every 2 hours until 8:00pm. He says if you take it with out eating breakfast or lunch it really upsets stomach.
So far the results are good and i am optimistic about it.Last but not the least little exercise, summers and lord staynarayans blessings helped so far.
Well if you are still reading my post..........................
contact address of the doctor

Re: my story, any advice or help people especially with treatment people can offer
Hello Sreeram/All,
Just wanted to make you aware of a treatment that has been working quite well - Vitilax from www.merryclinic.com. My 3 yr old son was diagnosed with Vitiligo few months back. My wife and I were very worried, as you can imagine. After researching various options, we decided to go for alternative medicine instead of western medicine as the creams prescribed seemed to have bad side effects. we identified the following treatments that appeared to have good success: 1. Traditional Chinese Medicine from various practictioners 2. Homeopathy (Dr.Shah's clinic in Mumbai, India www.leucoderma.com) 3. Ayurveda 4. Unani treatment (Unani research institute/hospital in Hyderabad, India). We're from India and so it was easier for us to identify options 3 and 4 above which are not commonplace treatment methodologies in the US.
Being in the US, traditional chinese medicine treatments were the most easily accesssed, so we decided to try that first. My son has been taking vitilax tablets and occasional application of vitilax oil (i think regular use would get better results), after consultations with Dr.Li of MerryClinic. MerryClinic is located in San Francisco, but I didn't have to travel there, just spoke with Dr.Li over the phone and she prescribed a dosage.
Results have been excellent, I must say - he's been using the tablets for past 2 months and patches on his upper eyelid have disappeared completely. Patches on the corners of his lips have shrunk considerably - this is one area we want to see more progress. pathes on his knees and elbow joints have become much smaller and fainter. We first started noticing positive effects after taking the medicine for about 2 weeks. We're hopeful that with another month or two of treatment, most patches will be barely noticeable.
I've not been paid or compensated in any way for writing this. I'm writing this endorsement solely because I know there are many like me who're frantically searching for a treatment that works. Just wanted to share my happiness at having found something that works. My son isn't fully cured yet, but we're very happy with the progress thus far and are hopeful that it will be a near 100% cure.
My advice to all is to try traditional chinese medicine and especially Dr.Li's treatment as soon as you can, so that the vitiligo condition doesn't have a chance to become deep rooted and persistent. One caveat though - I'm not sure whether there are any longer term side effects of this treatment. So far, we haven't noticed any side effects and are hopeful there won't be any in the future, especially since the medicine is herbal.
Good luck,
JS

Re: my story, any advice or help people especially with treatment people can offer
Dear JS:
Thanks for the post. My son was recently diagnosed with vitiligo and I'm anxiously in search of a treatment. I am ready to take my son to San Francisco to see Dr. Li. But before I do, I want to make sure that posts on this forum are legit. If possible, I would like to talk to you further about your experience with Dr. Li. You can reach me by email: mbl8018@yahoo.com.
Regarding the side effects of Dr. Li's medicine, I am quite positive that they have no side effects whatsoever because it is made from Chinese herbal medicine. I read Chinese and know that the ingredients used in vitilax do not have side effects.

Re: my story, any advice or help people especially with treatment people can offer
I was facing vitiligo spots for 2years (In the
mid of 2007).
See my Vitiligo Picture :(
Vitiligo spots completely
destroyed my all the hopes and dreams. I had these spots on different areas of
my body. When I notice the first spot on my hand, many of them said to me it’s Vitiligo
and advised me for a doctor, I was devastated to listen the name of this
disease first time in my life and contacted a local doctor immediately. He said
that the white patches had appeared probably due to a calcium deficiency in my
body and comforted me that there was nothing serious. I was put on a high
calcium dose, but with in a few days the white patches started spreading to
other parts of my body. I then contacted a dermatologist in my city. He
diagnosed me with Vitiligo. I was very shattered.
The dermatologist gave me a
dose to take thrice a day and 2 creams that had to be applied early in the
morning and late at night. The process of applying the cream was very difficult. First, I had to take a bath and then apply the cream on the affected area. After that it was necessary to sit in the early sunlight for 20 to 30 minutes. Then again
at night, I had to take a bath and wash the cream completely before applying a
coat of the other cream. The cream irritated my skin and if it touched the
normal skin, it would cause dark patches there. Even after such an irritating
and long procedure the results were not satisfactory.
Later i decided to used
herbal medicine to cure vitiligo. I used a domestic made herbal oil that was
said to cure white patches. I used the oil for one and a half month in the
affected area but the result was zero and the oil was very irritating to my
skin. I didnot give up and kept looking for a better cure.
Finally I
found this oil, Vitiligo Treatment Oil that changed my life! I started using
this oil in the affected areas. I used the oil for one and a half month in the
affected skin and noticed that I was getting back my normal skin color!! I'm
now a regular user and have been able to get rid of the white patches from most
parts of my body. Remember it is necessary to use the oil regularly with time
punctuality. I have used this oil regularly and noticed remarkable results!!
The affected skin parts where I didn’t use the oil regularly, did not improve quickly.
So the tip is to use the oil regularly for 3 months or so till the white patch
is completely gone.
Try it, http://www.vitiligotreatmentoil.com :)
